Taylor River - Taylor Park - Spring Creek Camping
North of Gunnison Colorado the East River & Taylor River merge to form the Gunnison River. Camping along the Taylor River or near the reservoir in Taylor Park are some of our favorite camping destinations.
Last minute supplies are available in Almont at Three Rivers Resort General Store or 23 miles up County Rd 742 at the Taylor Park Trading Post.
RV Dump Stations are located in Gunnison or a couple miles past the Trading Post in Taylor Park.
Electrical Hookups are available at One Mile Campground, Lottis Creek Campground, or the lower loop of Lakeview Campground.
ATV Trails - 100’s of miles of ATV trails are accessible from Taylor Park. No ATV’s are allowed on the paved county road but there are a number of dispersed campsites and several campgrounds that are ATV friendly:

Lakeview Campground Trail #621 is located next to site #6. This OHV trail is 2.25 miles and connects to Union Park Rd 752. 50" width limit on this trail. OHV's are allowed in the campground.

The former mining town of Pitkin is a special place that is a popular destination for off road enthusiasts. 100’s of miles of off road trails are accessible from most of these campgrounds. Groceries, gas, and UTV rentals are available at the Silver Plume General Store.

Curecanti National Recreation Area
Blue Mesa Reservoir, Morrow Point Reservoir, & Crystal Reservoir are the 3 lakes formed by dams on the Gunnison River that make up the Curecanti National Rec Area. There are numerous campgrounds along the lakes with easy access from US Hwy 50. Blue Mesa Reservoir is the largest lake in Colorado.

Lake City BLM & County Campgrounds
Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Campgrounds sometimes have different rules than USFS campgrounds. Check the information board at the campground entrance. The BLM is slower to activate fire bans during the dry season. For example: Williams Creek Campground (above) had a fire ban in 2018 but Mill Creek Campground (below) still allowed fires even though they were just a few miles apart.
