San Juan National Forest
With more than 1.8 million acres in southwest Colorado, the San Juan National Forest covers most of the southern San Juan Mountains west of the Continental Divide. Bayfield, Dolores, Durango, and Pagosa Springs are some of the towns in the area.

The big attraction to this area is the Hermosa Creek Trail which begins at the campground as well as a network of other nearby trails.
Several of the nearby trails allow ATV & OHV vehicles while the Hermosa Creek Trail is limited to hiking, horseback rides, mountain bikes, and motorized single track.
